Con veinte años abandona su pueblo llegando a instalarse en Córdoba como empleado de la Telefónica.<br /> <br /> Siendo presidente de la peña &#039;&#039;&#039;&quot;Amigos de las Matildes&quot;&#039;&#039;&#039; se presenta en las elecciones de [[1987]] a presidente de la [[Federación de Peñas Cordobesas]] compitiendo con el entonces presidente [[Francisco de Blas Muñoz]]. Al obtener mayoría de votos es proclamado quinto presidente de dicha Federación.<br /> <br /> En su mandato al frente de Federación organizó muchos actos, recuperando para Córdoba tradiciones olvidadas como: concurso de belenes, verbena de la Virgen de los Faroles,la antigua batalla de Flores hoy llamada cabalgata anunciadora de las fiestas de Mayo, como fomentar la convivencia entre las Peñas Federadas, implantación de la vieja costumbre de hacer el pregón de las Fiestas Patronales, fomentar la apertura de la Federación con las instituciones y mantener buen contacto con ellas y las autoridades.<br /> <br /> En su primer mantato tuvo el honor de celebrar los veintincinco años de la fundación de la Federación, que fue desarrollado con multiples festejos y actos culturales, entre ellos un perol mutitudinario con la presencia de 4000 peñistas e invitados.<br /> <br /> En su mandato la Federación creció considerablemente en numero de peñas federadas, pasando de tan sólo 80 a más de 130 participativas al dejar el cargo en el año [[1995]].<br /> <br /> En reconocimiento de su labor como presidente le fue concedido en el año [[1990]] el [[Potro de Oro]].<br /> <br /> En el año [[1995]] da el salto a la política ingresando en las listas electorales del PSOE donde obtiene acta de concejal.
