Elegido alcalde de [[Almodóvar del Río]] en [[1979]], fue el primer alcalde de la Democracia. En la oposición, por la [[UCD]] destacaba el teniente de alcalde [[Pedro Fernández Fernández]]; por el [[PCE]], [[Enrique Ruiz Castro]].
