Desde la torre de la Calahorra o el mercado de Sánchez Peña, fue también el Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos lugar frecuentemente utilizado para el encarcelamiento de personas.<br /> <br /> La prisión de Fátima, planificada y edificada durante la [[Segunda República]], tenía como objetivo implantar un nuevo modelo de sistema carcelario.
